Commencing her career as a physical education and health teacher at Pine Ridge Middle School in 1977, Denise Ann Da Moude decided to switch career paths. Serving as a dormitory supervisor and counselor for the United States Forest Service from 1980 to 1981, she subsequently transitioned to work for the United States Postal Service, where she started her tenure with the service as a city carrier in Chadron, NE, in 1980. Thereafter, she acted as a clerk from 1983 to 1992 and a city carrier in Portsmouth, VA, from 1993 to 2003. She concluded her career in 2010 after serving as a passport clerk for seven years. Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Da Moude was a mental health counselor facilitator for boundaries, divorce care, and sexual brokenness groups and has served as a volunteer police chaplain for numerous years.
Civically involved as well, Ms. Da Moude has served her local community for several decades. A trustee of the Kempsville Presbyterian Church since 2019 and member of the Just Older Youth Ministry since 2010, she is an ordained deacon for the Kempsville Presbyterian Church and contributed her time to her local food pantry. Earlier in her career, she was a scout troop leader in Chadron, day camp director in Chadron, and co-chair and superintendent of the Christian education committee of the Chadron Community Church. Notably, she sat on the board of directors of the Guiding Star Council for the Girl Scouts of the United States of America.
Earning a Bachelor of Science in education from Chadron State College in 1976, Ms. Da Moude returned to her education 20 years later, receiving a Master of Arts in community mental health from Regent University in 1996. She recalls receiving her master’s degree as her ultimate career highlight. In light of her outstanding contributions to her community, she was honored with the Girl Scout Appreciation Award in 1990. Likewise, she has been selected for inclusion in multiple Who’s Who publications.
