A distinguished and venerated figure in the field of health care, Dr. Daniel C. Andreae has been a leading professional in neuroscience for many decades. Serving as the first executive director of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, he was the leader of a successful 10-year campaign to secure statutory legislation recognizing social work as a profession. Commencing his career as an adjunct associate professor and fellow at Rension University College with the University of Waterloo, he ascended the ranks and became a professor of psychology at the University of Guelph-Humber. Notably, he also served in the department of continuing education at Harvard Medical School with Harvard University.

Dr. Andreae has amassed a vast list of professional accomplishments. Making tremendous strides in academia, he has also been an outstanding community advocate in the realm of psychology and neuroscience. His involvement in neurodegenerative causes has made him privy to the fact that brain education and research is crucial to medicine, and it has led to the increased management of conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injuries and Tourette syndrome, and enhanced quality of life for patients afflicted with those conditions.

The recipient of a Master of Social Work in clinical specialization from Wilfrid Laurier University and a doctorate in adult education from the University of Toronto, Dr. Andreae has been awarded with several accolades throughout the course of his impressive career. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Eating Disorder Information Center in 2017 and was named Canadian Social Worker of the Year in 2016. In addition, he was recognized as a Leading Man by the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2014. Earlier in his career, he was presented with the Award of Merit by the Brain Injury Association of Canada, the Outstanding Service Award for Leadership by the Alzheimer Patron Council, and the Ontario Medal of Citizenship by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. Noted as the Top Educator of Brain Education in Canada, the Ontario Association of Social Workers bestowed him with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Andreae was named a Marquis Who’s Who Worldwide Humanitarian and Industry Leader in 2018 and was featured in the 2018 edition of Marquis Millennium Magazine. Likewise, he has been featured in The Wall Street Journal and on the Reuters billboard in Times Square. In 2017, he was recognized as a Top Educator and honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received an honorary doctorate from Assumption University.
