Bolstered by more than 40 years of professional experience, Gail L. Lamoureux, BS, RN, PMH-BC, is a proven leader in the fields of psychiatry and mental health nursing. As a care manager at Humana since 2009, she has dedicated her career to helping patients, particularly patients with anxiety, without the use of pharmaceutical intervention. Earlier in her career, Ms. Lamoureux served as a geriatric nurse for 20 years and as a nurse’s aide.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Lamoureux pursued a formal education, receiving an associate degree in nursing in 1981. She subsequently earned a bachelor’s degree in health care leadership. A registered nurse in the state of Florida, she was previously a certified gerontological nurse and is currently a certified behavioral psychiatric mental health nurse.
Ms. Lamoureux attributes much of her success to the guidance and support of her many mentors, who have led her to greatness in her professional life. Outside of her primary efforts in health care, she serves in her community through clowning and is a member of the South East Clown Association. In addition, she has delivered food and resources to the senior population, as well as friends who were housebound during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Likewise, Ms. Lamoureux enjoys scrapbooking in her leisure time.
Although she has experienced several career highlights, Ms. Lamoureux is especially proud of helping patients who experienced severe mental health struggles regain control of their lives. In particular, she was gratified by the opportunity to help a patient with agoraphobia who had not left her home in 10 years. Through working diligently with her patient for three years, Ms. Lamoureux was able to help her pursue her ambition of ballroom dancing and visit her daughters in college. In the coming years, she aims to continue serving in the health care sector and helping patients for as long as she is able.
