Dr. Udoh O. Obioha was inspired to delve into the field of medicine by two of his uncles, who were the first generation of medical doctors within his family. Born in Nigeria, he attended the University of Nigeria College of Medicine, from which he received a Doctor of Medicine in 1979. Following this achievement, he completed a rotating internship at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in 1980 prior to immigrating to the United States. From there, Dr. Obioha completed a residency in 1980, an internship in internal medicine in 1982 and a residency in emergency medicine in 1984, all at Howard University Hospital. He has been board certified in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine and in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Upon completing his medical training, Dr. Obioha served Howard University Hospital from 1984 to 1986 before joining the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he worked in emergency medicine for four years. Moving to Greater El Monte Community Hospital, he also served as the medical director of the emergency department until 1990. For the subsequent eight years, Dr. Obioha was the medical director of the H. Claude Hudson Comprehensive Health Center in Los Angeles, followed by an appointment at a family practice in Montclair, California, and tenures with the Dakota Clinics in North Dakota. While in North Dakota, Dr. Obioha was the medical director of the internal medicine clinic between 2001 and 2010.

Subsequently, Dr. Obioha was a physician in family medicine in various clinics throughout Montana, Washington State, Virginia and Illinois from 2011 to 2019, as well as a physician in internal medicine at California Foothills Medical Associates, Inc., in Rancho Cucamonga, California, from 2018 to 2019. Concurrently, he has excelled as a physician and professor of medicine for Corrective Care Ministry, Inc., since 2012, as well as a physician in internal medicine at Amistat Medical Clinics with the Universal Multi-Specialty Medical Group, Inc., since 2019.

Lending his expertise to academia, Dr. Obioha has further served as an assistant clinical professor at such universities as the Western University of Health Sciences, the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles between 1990 and 2012. A civic-minded individual as well, he founded the Healthcare Organization for Africa in 1989 and has been the co-founder of the Onyima & Adure Obioha Family Foundation.

Among the many highlights of his career, Dr. Obioha is especially gratified by his work in charitable endeavors over the many decades. He attributes much of his success to his perfectionist nature and competitiveness, having always garnered a propensity for being the best at what he does. Looking toward the future, Dr. Obioha intends to further expand the Corrective Care Ministry, obtain grants for nonprofit organizations and promote preventive medicine modalities.
