A prominent figure in the legal industry, Joseph W. Armbrust Jr. accrued approximately 50 years as an attorney with Sidley Austin LLP in New York City. Commencing his career with the Firm in 1968, Mr. Armbrust ultimately acted as co-head of the Firm-wide corporate practice and served on the Firm’s Executive Committee and Management Committee. He specialized in securities law, as well as mergers and acquisitions while representing corporations and investment banks.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Armbrust earned a Bachelor of Science from Boston College in 1965, concentrating his studies in mathematics and physics. Recognizing that law might be a better fit for his skill set, he earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Virginia in 1968 and was admitted to the bar in New York and Virginia.

Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. Armbrust has shared his expertise as a lecturer on securities law and corporate governance at several institutions across the United States, including the University of Virginia, The University of Florida, Yale University and the University of Texas.

In an effort to remain abreast of recent developments in the law, Mr. Armbrust maintains affiliations with several industry related organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Virginia Bar Association. Going forward, Mr. Armbrust continues to consult with various entities on matters primarily relating to corporate governance.
