L. Donald Prutzman, Esq., a partner in Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP’s intellectual property group, is renowned for his legal expertise in numerous areas, including technology, outsourcing and telecommunications, cyber security and data policy. Mr. Prutzman possesses more than 40 years of professional experience, beginning with his work as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, Pa., in the late 1970s. On the road to gaining prominence in the legal arena, Mr. Prutzman worked as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore (1977-1984) and as partner with the firm Stecher Jaglom & Prutzman (1984-2000). Since then, he has provided his services on a wide range of matters focused on intellectual property law, antitrust and trade regulation, commercial litigation, and trademark, copyright and patent litigation. He currently serves as an arbitrator and mediator for domestic and international commercial matters.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College in 1973, Mr. Prutzman went on to earn a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the New York University School of Law in 1976. In recognition of his achievements, Mr. Prutzman has received several noteworthy accolades. A top-rated intellectual property attorney in New York, he was selected to Super Lawyers in 2007 and from 2009 to 2017. He holds an AV® Preeminent™ rating through Martindale-Hubbell® and was featured amongst Avenue Magazine’s Legal Elite and Fortune’s Magazine Top Ranked Intellectual Property Attorneys in 2012.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Prutzman has exercised his passion for his profession through a multitude of affiliations, including the International Trademark Association’s Parallel Imports Committee and ADR Committee, the American Arbitration Association’s and International Dispute Resolution Center’s Panel of Neutrals, and the INTA’s Panel of Trademark Mediators. Additionally, he is a member of the Arbitration Panel for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Prutzman also serves as a member of the New York State Bar Association, where he co-chairs the Intellectual Property Committee of The International Law Section.
