After receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence and being admitted to practice in the State of Florida, Alan G. Greer began his career as partner of Richman, Greer, P.A., where he served from 1969 to 2019. During his tenure with the firm, he honed his sights on business litigation, professional liability defense, class action, and corporate and officer liability. Additionally, he participated in the Watergate scandals and represented Al Gore and the Florida Democratic Party in Bush vs. Gore in 2000. Since departing from Richman Greer, Mr. Greer has excelled as senior counsel with Day Pitney LLC in Coral Gables, Florida, beginning in 2019. He has specialized in complex commercial litigation.
Drawing upon a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy in 1961, Mr. Greer served in the United States Navy between 1957 to 1967, during which time he was active during the Vietnam War. He then attended the University of Florida, receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1969. Admitted to practice in the States of New York and Florida, as well as the District of Columbia, Mr. Greer is also admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Furthermore, he has been admitted before the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Ninth, Eleventh, D.C. and Federal Circuits.
Demonstrating versatility in his field, Mr. Greer has authored two books, “Choices & Challenges: Lessons in Faith, Hope and Love” in 2009 and “God Is” in 2019. He served as an educator at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, as well as chairperson of the WLRN Public Radio and Television station. Named a fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers – where he served on their complex litigation committee – and the International Society of Barristers, Mr. Greer is a member of the American Bar Association, past president of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society and past chairperson of the international law committee of the Florida Bar Association.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Greer received the 2018 Jurisprudence Award from the Anti-Defamation League and the 2016 David W. Dyer Award from the Dade County Bar Association. He has consistently been recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Law Dragon and Florida Trend. Most notably, he has held an AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubbell for several decades.
