He has certainly achieved his objective as an educator and researcher in electronic materials and sciences. Today, Dr. Mahajan has the privilege of serving as a distinguished professor at the University of California, Davis’ department of chemical engineering and material science. He is also an electronic materials professor at Arizona State University, a role he has held since 1997.

Dr. Mahajan laid the groundwork for his notable career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science with highest honors from Punjab University in India in 1959, a Bachelor of Education in metallurgy with honors from the Indian Institute of Science in 1961, and a Doctor of Philosophy in materials science and engineering from the University of California in 1965. Dr. Mahajan realized his goal in 1961, when he began an assignment as a research assistant and the University of California, Berkeley. For more than a half-century, Dr. Mahajan has lectured and held several professorships in colleges across the U.S. and around the world: Ecole Centrale de Lyon in France, the University of Antwerp in Belgium, the University of Denver, and Carnegie Mellon University.
