Ronald Whittemore has exemplified his aptitude in several professions as a Senior Olympian and a computer programmer. Alongside his work with Datamann, Inc., in Wilder, Vermont, since 1979, he has exhibited great passion for sports, having qualified for and attended every National Senior Games since 1995. Among his notable achievements, he received a First Place Gold Medal for the long jump, the triple jump and the 100-meter dash in the National Senior Games in Burlington, Vermont, in 2018, having received fourth overall in the National Senior Olympics that same year. In 2017, Mr. Whittemore received Second Place in the triple jump at the National Senior Games and, earlier in his career, landed in fourth place for the triple jump at the National Senior Olympics in 2013.

Between 2008 and 2011, Mr. Whittemore earned a plethora of esteemed placements and accolades for his prowess in sports. He earned four Gold Medals at the Vermont Senior Games in 2008, an Eighth Place ribbon in the triple jump at the National Senior Games in San Francisco in 2009 and a Second Placement in 60 meters and First Placement in the long jump at the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, New Hampshire, in 2010. At the National Senior Games in Humble, Texas, in 2011, Mr. Whittemore additionally placed 21st at the 100-meter dash, placed 18th at the 200-meter dash and placed in fourth at the long jump. He also earned a Bronze Medal in the triple jump.

Impressively, Mr. Whittemore earned fourth place in the long jump in the all-time history of the National Senior Games in 2013, and has competed in 5K and 10K road races for 30 consecutive years, often winning extensively within his age bracket. He holds the record in Claremont, New Hampshire, for most consecutive days gone running, the second longest in New Hampshire through the United States Running Streak Association.

Congruent to his tenure in sports, Mr. Whittemore served in the United States Navy between 1956 and 1960 and in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Thereafter, he served as a computer programmer for the Cross Company in Hartford, Vermont, from 1966 to 1968 before becoming a senior programmer for Joy Manufacturing in Claremont from 1968 to 1973. Between 1973 and 1979, he was a senior programmer for Computac LLC in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. Civically involved as well, Mr. Whittemore has excelled as president of the Claremont Bridge Club since 2006, and was previously the president of the Claremont Men’s Softball League in 1980 and a chess coach at Stevens High School in 1972.

Mr. Whittemore has been highlighted in several sources of media, such as newspapers, radio shows and magazines. In 2008, 2011 and 2018, he was a featured story in The Eagle Times. Additionally, in 2010 to 2011, he was also featured in Valley News. Recognized by Marquis Who’s Who, Mr. Whittemore received the 2018 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, was named a Top Professional in 2018, and was featured in the second and seventh editions of Marquis Millennium Magazine. From 2018 to 2020, he was listed in The Wall Street Journal, having also been featured on the Thomas Reuters Billboard in Times Square, New York. Furthermore, he was named an Industry Leader and a Worldwide Humanitarian in 2018, as well as recognized in Delta Sky Magazine in 2019 and in American Way Magazine in 2020. Most notably, however, Mr. Whittemore was interviewed by the famous Star Jones and received The Star Treatment in 2019.

Looking forward, Mr. Whittemore is planning on attended the Senior Olympics in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November of 2021.
