Drawing upon more than 30 years of practiced experience in education and librarianship, Audrey Jane Wolfinger has established her prominence in the education industry through her myriad roles. Earning a Bachelor of Education from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1955, she joined the Neshaminy School District in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, as a library staff member. Soon thereafter, she was a librarian and audio visual coordinator at the Neshaminy Junior High School from 1955 to 1976. From 1976 until her retirement in 1984, she served as a librarian at the Neshaminy High School.
Throughout her career, Ms. Wolfinger has always enjoyed teaching students how to conduct research in a scholarly and efficient manner. Supported by an early interest in music and literature, she decided to expand upon her existing knowledge and delve into the field of librarianship. After earning a bachelor’s degree, she received a teacher’s certificate from Temple University in 1957. During her tenure in education, she returned to high education and graduated from Florida State University with a Master of Library Science in 1970.
Post-retirement, Ms. Wolfinger was a longstanding editor of her family’s newsletter, the Wolfinger Family Newsletter, between 1988 and 2004. Additionally, she was a board of directors member of the Neshaminy Valley Music Theatre from 1964 to 1965. Maintaining affiliation with the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society of Daughters of the American Colonists, the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania and the Bucks County Genealogical Society, Ms. Wolfinger has served in several executive roles. With the Bucks County Genealogical Society, she is a past vice president, president and resource center director. Since 2001, she has served the genealogical society as president pro tem.
When asked for advice for future professionals entering the field of education, Ms. Wolfinger says that one should pursue their goals with passion and enthusiasm, as well as perform to the best of their ability. In her spare time, she enjoys reading British mystery novels, researching her own family history and listening to baroque music. Born on June 21, 1933 to parents Harry Charlies Wolfinger and Eva (Trace-Eckenroth) Wolfinger in Mount Penn, Pennsylvania, Ms. Wolfinger currently resides in Furlong, Pennsylvania.
