
Michael J. Earp has accrued nearly 50 years of professional experience in the field of construction insurance, culminating in his present role as managing director of the Construction and Infrastructure Division at Aon. In this role, he is notable for advising business owners on insurance procurement to mitigate professional risks associated with large construction projects. As such, he also maintains responsibility for managing large clients, preparing strategy papers and serving as the organization’s technical resource. In addition, Mr. Earp has overseen publications on technical matters and marketing materials. Joining the company in 2016, he previously served Aon as a practice leader for architects and engineers.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Earp served with numerous leading insurance organizations, demonstrating his proficiency in design, consulting and management. To wit, he held leadership roles with Professional Risk Advice & Education, Willis FINEX Global Limited, WR Berkley Insurance, E&O Professionals and Chartwell Underwriting. Notably, he also worked for Nicholson Leslie International, Alfred Blackmore Professional Indemnity, Engineers and Contractors Professional Indemnity Consultants, Clarkson Puckle and Stewart Wrightson Construction Insurance. He commenced his career as an insurance clerk for Sedgwick Forbes Bland Payne in 1977.
Mr. Earp is noteworthy as a construction risk insurance specialist, having been certified by the International Risk Management Institute in 2019. Previously attending Norwich City College in the mid-1970s, he holds an international sailing license and credentials through NauticED and an honorary diploma for insurance and guarantees in construction contracts from Stowarzyszenie Inźynierów Doradców I Rzeczoznawców (SIDiR). Moreover, Mr. Earp has authored numerous industry-related publications, such as “Changes Affecting Middle East Projects,” “Professional Indemnity Insurance for Construction Consultants” and “Professional Indemnity – Protection or an Exercise in Public Relations,” the lattermost article being featured in the Journal of Building Appraisal.

Additionally, he has garnered much attention for his leading published industry policies.
