Leveraging more than 35 years of professional expertise, Dr. Frederick Lobati is highly regarded in the field of medicine, with a particular emphasis on managing adult patients and being a civil surgeon. Since 2016, he has served as a hospitalist at CoxHealth, where he has tended to a myriad of patients, including involvement in end-of-life services, such as palliative and hospice care. In addition, he is responsible for discharging patients with prescribed medications and other treatments.
Born in Cameroon, Dr. Lobati received a scholarship to study medicine in Germany, earning a bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine from the University of Dusseldorf in 1984, a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cologne in 1988, and a diploma in community health and tropical medicine from Heidelberg University in 1989. After practicing medicine with American missionary doctors in Cameroon for four years, Dr. Lobati pursued further medical training in the United States. Subsequently, he completed a residency in internal medicine in 1996 and a fellowship in infectious disease in 1998, both at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine. Thereafter, Dr. Lobati became board certified in infectious disease and internal medicine through the ABIM Foundation and the American Board of Internal Medicine, respectively. He has also held medical licenses in Kansas and Missouri since 1996.
After his medical training, Dr. Lobati pursued vocational appointments at the Kansas City Department of Health, where he was the clinical director of the sexually transmitted disease clinic from 1998 to 2001. Thereafter, he was the lead emergency room triage physician at the Marion VA Medical Center between 2001 and 2004. For the following two years, Dr. Lobati served as a medical consultant on tuberculosis for the Missouri Department of Health and as an assistant professor of medicine and infectious disease at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Subsequently, Dr. Lobati served as a traditional internal medicine physician at Mercy from 2006 to 2013 and an attending physician at Select Specialty Hospital from 2009 to 2014. Prior to his current position, he was an assistant professor of clinical medicine and the director of the travel and immunization clinic at University of Missouri Health Care between 2014 and 2016.
Equally committed to civic endeavors, Dr. Lobati has served as a fundraiser, counselor and psychological support provider for the Southern Cameroon Ambazonia Community since 2016 and the director of Show-Me Mercy since 2014. As a testament to his success, Dr. Lobati was recognized as a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has received numerous Physician Recognition Awards with Commendation from the American Medical Association between 1999 and 2023.
