Well-regarded for his expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Thomas John Karvosky possesses more than 30 years of professional experience, most notably within the medical marijuana sector. Noteworthy for being the 35th pharmacist in the United States licensed to work with patients with medical marijuana, Dr. Karvosky has made a considerable contribution to the understanding of medical marijuana products across Connecticut.

Holding several concurrent positions, Dr. Karvosky has served as a consultant dispensary pharmacist with Verano in Waterbury and Meriden, Connecticut, since 2020, where his responsibilities include accessing, instructing and adjusting recommendations for medical marijuana products. Notably, he ascended from a consultant performing hour-long consultations to assisting patients at the counter. Alongside this role, Dr. Karvosky has served as a consultant dispensary pharmacist with Apothecary Consulting Services LLC since 2012 and Green Thumb Industries since 2019. Through Apothecary Consulting Services LLC, Dr. Karvosky provides pharmaceutical services to several entities, including the public sector, the long-term care industry and various government agencies.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Karvosky served as a dispensary pharmacist at Compassionate Care Center of Connecticut from 2015 to 2018 and an adjunct professor at the Lincoln College of New England in Southington, Connecticut, from 2014 to 2018. In preparation for his career, he pursued a formal education at Northeastern University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1994. Subsequently, he attained a Doctor of Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2012.

After graduating with his undergraduate degree, Dr. Karvosky commenced work as a decentralized pharmacist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he worked closely with the medical staff and participated in daily rounds. Remarkably, these experiences shaped Dr. Karvosky’s skills, simultaneously providing him with the skills of a pharmacist with those of a physician’s assistant. During this tenure, he worked for his father – who owned a pharmacy for nearly 30 years – and an independent pharmacy in his hometown. Afterward, Dr. Karvosky assumed a role as a consultant pharmacist with Omnicare of Connecticut, where he fostered his expertise in skilled nursing home facilities.

In accounting for his success, Dr. Karvosky credits his perseverance and willingness to tackle new challenges head-on. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue enhancing the quality of life for medical marijuana patients.
