Drawing upon nearly 25 years of professional experience, Dr. J. Edward Hernandez currently excels as the founder and chief executive officer of Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates. Establishing his practice in Sugar Land, Texas, in 2005, he also serves the practice as a rheumatologist. Earlier in his career, he served as an assistant clinical professor at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, for four years.

To prepare for his career, Dr. Hernandez first pursued a formal education at Angelo State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in 1991. He subsequently attended the School of Medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1996. Shortly thereafter, he completed a residency in internal medicine in 1999 and a fellowship in rheumatology in 2001, both at the Baylor College of Medicine. As such, Dr. Hernandez is board-certified in rheumatology.

A fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, Dr. Hernandez also maintains active affiliation with the Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society. He previously received the GlaxoSmithKline Award in 2001 for his prowess in medicine and patient care. Among his many career achievements, he is particularly proud of serving as a faculty member at the Baylor College of Medicine, and he attributes much of his success to his determination to perfect his craft as a rheumatologist.

In the coming years, Dr. Hernandez endeavors to expand the scope of his rheumatology practice, increasing its size and prominence to accommodate more patients throughout Sugar Land and its surrounding areas in Texas. Outside his primary efforts, he is civically involved with Africa New Life Ministries.
