Celebrated for more than 50 years of dedicated service to the ministry, Dr. Wesley Vinton Hromatko is respected as a minister and presenter, having been ordained by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) in 1973. Throughout his lengthy career, he has served as a speaker for the TriState Unitarian Universalist Congregations since 1990 and has spoken before several UUA churches, including an appointment at the UUA headquarters. Alongside his ministry work, Dr. Hromatko has served as the owner and operator of Century Farm since 2011 and is an active member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, highlighting his excellence in agriculture.

Prior to entering the ministry, Dr. Hromatko attended the University of Minnesota, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. Thereafter, he attended the Meadville Lombard Theological School, earning a Master of Arts in 1971 and a Doctor of Ministry in 1973. Notably, while working toward his ordination, he served as a student minister at the Abraham Lincoln Fellowship, Unity Temple and the Third Unitarian Church in Illinois. Dr. Hromatko went on to serve as a minister for numerous churches and congregations across the United States, including the First Congressional Parish and All Souls Church in Massachusetts, the Oaklandon Universalist Church in Indianapolis, and the First Unitarian Church in Hobart, Indiana.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Hromatko has dedicated a significant amount of time to scholarly endeavors, including his contributions to “The New Encyclopedia of Unbelief” in 2007 and “A Simple Faith” in 2017. A member of industry-related organizations – such as the Unitarian-Universalist Ministers Association and the American Civil Liberties Union – Dr. Hromatko is also recognized as a life member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Hromatko has accepted several honors. After accruing 50 years of ordination, he earned recognition in 2023. Previously, he received the Entenmann Ohanian Award in 1975 in light of his unwavering commitment to the church. In accounting for his success, he credits the inspiration of youth group leaders and ministers whose guidance paved the way for his own career in the ministry. However, he is especially proud of organizing tours for the Chicago Children’s Choir.
