Supported by nearly 15 years of professional experience, Ethan Thaddeus Edmondson is well-regarded for his musical prowess, having served as a music teacher for his entire career. An independent music educator since 2024, he previously taught at the Spruce Mountain School District Regional School Unit 73 in Jay, Maine, between 2022 and 2024.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Edmondson served with the Ellsworth School Department in Ellsworth, Maine, for two years, as well as an academic institution in Searsport, Maine. Likewise, he spent two years at the Katahdin Schools Regional School Unit 89 in Stacyville, Maine. He commenced his career as a general music teacher at the Swan’s Island School in Swan’s Island, Maine. Throughout his career, Mr. Edmondson has dedicated his time to educating students on the significance of committing to music participation. In this regard, he has instructed chorus and general music lessons for third, fourth and fifth graders, as well as fifth-grade band lessons. Notably, his passion for the field is exemplified in his tenures as a trumpet player for the Bar Harbor Band and the Downeast Chamber Orchestra, the latter of which holds up to four concerts each year in Winter Harbor, Maine.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Edmondson achieved a Bachelor of Science in music education, with a minor in cello, from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2010. Subsequently, he completed master’s degree coursework at the University of Maine. A lifelong learner and musician, Mr. Edmondson inherited his passion for music from his mother, Rebecca Edmondson, who was also a music educator.
Outside of his primary vocational efforts, Mr. Edmondson has participated in various community service initiatives, such as serving as a volunteer musician for church communities and supporting food pantries and breast cancer awareness campaigns. As a testament to his success in the field, Mr. Edmondson was named a finalist for Teacher of the Year, underscoring his commitment to music education. Looking ahead, he aims to continue instructing music to eager students willing to learn.
