Drawing upon more than 20 years of professional excellence, James Marcus Danford III is well-regarded in the finance industry for his expertise in wealth and financial planning. Since 2017, he has excelled as the founder and wealth planner at Accumulus Financial Group LLC, where he leverages his proficiency in wealth management to help clients reach their financial goals. Among his many daily tasks, Mr. Danford maintains responsibility for analyzing each client’s financial situation and determining the appropriate strategy based on the client’s investment experience, risk tolerance and time horizon. In addition, he provides premier services to individuals, families and corporations in the areas of retirement planning, education funding, estate planning, tax strategies, and portfolio construction and management.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Danford served with Waddell & Reed for two decades, commencing his career with the firm as a financial advisor in 2001. Remaining there until 2021, he also thrived as a district supervisor between 2006 and 2009. During his tenure at Waddell & Reed, Mr. Danford received a plethora of Productivity Awards, serving as a testament to his management prowess and expertise in financial management. To prepare for his career, he received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from The Citadel in 2001. He subsequently completed Series 6, 7, 63 and 65 licenses through FINRA and became a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor through the College for Financial Planning (CFP) in 2004. In 2008, he also became a Certified Financial Planner through the CFP Board.

Civically involved as well, Mr. Danford has lent his expertise to numerous organizations in his area. Since 2004, he has served as a crown church coordinator at Shandon Baptist Church, having also been a board member and vice president of the Financial Planning Association of South Carolina since 2018. Previously, he was a board member of the Laurel Hill Home Owners Association between 2019 and 2021. Likewise, Mr. Danford is a member of the Business Network International and Kingdom Advisors.

Although he has experienced many career milestones, Mr. Danford is particularly proud of helping clients reach their financial goals with his guidance. One of his clients, an educator, was able to successfully retire following their annual review, which brought Mr. Danford a wealth of satisfaction and pride. Looking toward the future, Mr. Danford endeavors to expand Accumulus Financial Group LLC, which includes adding his wife as an additional financial advisor and additional staff members to support their growing client base. As such, he also aims to achieve $100 million in revenue in five years’ time while expanding upon the firm’s brand awareness.
