Leveraging more than 15 years of professional excellence, Jessica Plaunt has maintained an active role in the field of quality engineering and currently serves as an engineer specialist of supplier quality for General Dynamics Electric Boat. Assuming her position in 2022, she first joined General Dynamics Electric Boat in 2020 as a senior engineer of supplier quality. As a member of the supplier quality engineering department, she helps to solve supplier-related problems by interfacing with the inspection, purchasing and design engineering sectors, as well as managing more than 10 suppliers.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Plaunt taught at her alma mater, Clemson University, during her graduate studies, serving as a graduate grading assistant, graduate research assistant and graduate teacher of record between 2019 and 2020. She also worked for the Curtiss-Wright Corporation as a maintenance outage NDE technician in 2015 and 2019, for Southern Nuclear as a construction quality oversight and compliance monitoring program coordinator from 2017 to 2018, and for Fluor Corporation as a quality control inspector from 2016 to 2017. Furthermore, Ms. Plaunt was a quality control inspector for the Chicago Bridge & Iron Company in 2016, having formerly served as a quality control inspector at NuCrane Manufacturing from 2014 to 2015. She excelled as a part-time manufacturing designer at Aerotek from 2013 to 2014, a mechanical designer at Thern Inc. from 2010 to 2013, and a process technician at Alfalight Inc. in 2008.

Impressively, Ms. Plaunt holds a myriad of certifications, including a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt through the American Society of Quality, several welding certificates, and a certified welding inspector through the American Welding Society. To prepare for her career, she received a Bachelor of Science in physics, Spanish and mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2007, followed by an Associate of Applied Science in mechanical design technology from Western Technical College in 2010. Concluding her education, she received a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Clemson University in 2020.

Attributing much of her career success to the influence and guidance of her many mentors during her collegiate studies and early vocational paths, Ms. Plaunt aims to advance her skills in the coming years with her eyes set on becoming a principal engineer at General Dynamics Electric Boat. Furthermore, she would like to continue mentoring other supplier quality engineers while working to manage suppliers and implement process improvements with excellence.
