Supported by over 20 years of experience in the field of antiques, Martha Peck is a distinguished antique dealer who has served as an appraiser with the eponymous Martha Peck Antiques, LLC since 2003. Receiving accreditation as a personal property appraiser through the International Society of Appraisers in 2008, she has leveraged her skillset to appraise items and deal in antiques, for which she has seen much success. To wit, many of her items include vintage furniture, selected objects and artwork. She also draws upon a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
Ms. Peck began her professional career as an elementary school teacher in Deerfield, Illinois, teaching for five years. She is presently a co-owner of Redefined Décor in Chicago, where she has remained for 12 years. Alongside her primary endeavors, she participates in charity events that resemble antique roadshows, most recently for the Deerfield Public Library. She is also a founding member of the North Shore Antiques Dealers Association, a contributing member of the Foundation for Appraisal Education and a member of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Initially beginning her career in the suburbs of Chicago as an elementary school teacher, Ms. Peck subsequently started her own antique dealing business in 1998. Five years later, she began appraising personal properties, culminating in her role with Martha Peck Antiques, LLC. Among the many highlights of her career, Ms. Peck is particularly proud of bearing witness to all the changes that have occurred in the antique market, having morphed alongside the market to remain abreast of new trends and innovations. To this end, she is gratified by her ability to reinvent herself with the times and appeal to younger markets.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Peck intends to continue serving at Martha Peck Antiques, LLC and offering more appraisals to individuals across the state of Illinois. She advises prospective professionals in the market to focus on such areas as fine arts, furniture or decorative accessories and cultivate their own knowledge of what they find interesting to present the best information to clients.
