Supported by over 30 years of practiced expertise in the field of law, Brett E. Nelson has served as a partner at Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP in Indianapolis, Indiana, since 2005. He first joined the firm in 1999 as a law clerk, remaining in that role until 2000. Thereafter, from 2000 to 2004, he excelled as an associate before being promoted to his present position. At the inception of his career in 1992, Mr. Nelson was the owner of The Smiling Serpent in Bloomington, Indiana, for two years.

Adjacent to his primary vocational interests, Mr. Nelson has served as the president of Paws and Think, Inc., since 2013. As the owner of several adopted dogs, he derives great pleasure from helping animals and their owners.

To prepare for his career, Mr. Nelson pursued a formal education, graduating from Bloomington High School South in 1989. Following this feat, he received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Indiana University Bloomington in 1992. After spending numerous years in his professional career, he subsequently received a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1999. As a testament to his success in the legal industry, Mr. Nelson was named to Indiana Super Lawyers in the area of environmental litigation from 2014 to 2015.

Mr. Nelson attributes much of his success to the steadfast culture at the law firm, as they have always tried to hire the best lawyers to resolve complex legal problems. Among the many highlights of his career, he is particularly proud of several excellent moments, including representing a competitor against another competitor in the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and participating in a case regarding the Clean Air Act against a pesticide spray.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Nelson intends to experience the continued growth of his career. In his spare time, he enjoys skydiving, base jumping, hiking and hunting. He is married with two stepchildren.
