Dr. Allison Marlene Souza possesses over 15 years of professional experience in the field of nursing. Currently, she excels as a family nurse practitioner for Shriver Clinical Services Corporation, having initially joined the organization in 2019 as a consultant to the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services. She collaborated with the department as a health and hospital safeguard to ensure that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive comprehensive medical services and support. Earlier in her career, Dr. Souza cultivated her professional journey as a registered nurse with Southcoast Hospitals Group and as a family nurse practitioner with Episource LLC and Matrix Medical Network.
To prepare for her career, Dr. Souza earned a diploma from Brockton Hospital School of Nursing in 2008, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2010, and both a Master of Science in Nursing in 2014 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2017 from Walden University. A board-certified family nurse practitioner and certified developmental disabilities nurse, Dr. Souza’s dissertation, “Introducing the Health Coach Method of Motivational Interviewing to Medical Assistants to Improve the Patient Care Approach,” was published through ProQuest Dissertations Publishing in 2017.
Dr. Souza enjoys giving back to both her profession and community by continuing philanthropy activities through the Kentucky Colonel’s Good Works Program, the Massachusetts Nurse’s Honor Guard and volunteer work with her father’s local veterans group.
As a testament to her success in the field, Dr. Souza has received numerous accolades. Most notably, Dr. Souza was bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steven L. Beshear. Early achievements include receiving the Janice Dubois Clancy Memorial Scholarship for exemplary clinical performance, displaying qualities of leadership and compassion along with the Gelpe-Erickson Memorial Award for academic and clinical performance in 2007. Among her many career highlights, however, she takes the most pride in being promoted to her current position as a family nurse practitioner at Shriver Clinical Services Corporation, where her clinical expertise has proven invaluable in promoting excellent standards of care for patients.
