Since 2006, Scott Distasio, Esq., has excelled as a board-certified civil trial lawyer and managing shareholder of the eponymous Distasio Law Firm. Focusing his attention on elder abuse and negligence in long-term care and home assisted living facilities, he has received much recognition for his work in the legal industry. Earlier in his career, Mr. Distasio served as a shareholder with Shear Newman Hahn and Rosenkranz, P.A., beginning in 1989 and as a partner with Bales Weinstein beginning in 2000. Over the course of his prolific career, he has held an AV Rating in personal injury law via Martindale-Hubbell.

To remain abreast of developments in the field of law, Mr. Distasio maintains membership with the Florida Justice Association, the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Prior to embarking on his career, he pursued a formal education at the University of Florida, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the Warrington College of Business in 1986 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Frederic G. Levin College of Law in 1989. He has since been admitted to practice law by the Florida State Bar, as well as before the United States District Court for the Middle, Northern and Southern Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Most recently, Mr. Distasio was named among National Trial Lawyers’ Top 100 for 2023-2024. Among his many career achievements, however, he is especially proud of representing individuals who have endured hardship at the hands of medical institutions and care facilities.

In the coming years, Mr. Distasio intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career in law. Married to his wife, Faith, for many years, he is the proud father of two children, Caitlyn and Garrett. In his spare time, he enjoys quality time spent with friends and family. He currently resides in his hometown of Tampa, Florida.
