A distinguished figure in the field of community service, Yahaira Soto has dedicated herself to helping the Hispanic community of Cleveland, Ohio, for several years. She currently serves as the Hispanic Liaison for the City of Cleveland Department of Aging, through which she works with Hispanic populations in navigating the housing market in their neighborhoods and advocates on behalf of her community. Among her many achievements, she is proud of helping several individuals from Puerto Rico who were impacted by Hurricane Maria, having helped them find housing for themselves and their families following the natural disaster. Impressively, during this time, she organized an event to help those families get adopted by various agencies during the Christmas holiday season.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Soto worked in the field of public service with HEAP/PIPP and dedicated her time to the senior home assistance program. Likewise, she worked with the nonprofit agency, the Spanish American Committee, Amotec, and currently for the City of Cleveland. Additionally, she pursued a formal education at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Outside of her career efforts, Ms. Soto has volunteered extensively in her region at her local homeless shelter and events geared toward helping children. Furthermore, she has contributed widely through Hispanic Heritage Month. She attributes a great deal of her success to the support and encouragement of her husband, Carlos, and daughter, Anaya.
To attest to her success, Ms. Soto has accrued numerous accolades. In 2022, she earned employee recognition during Hispanic Heritage Month from the City of Cleveland. The same year, she was interviewed by Telemundo for her excellent services. In the coming years, Ms. Soto intends to pursue a master’s degree and continue working in community service. She would also like to enter the field of immigration services.
