Drawing upon over 40 years of medical expertise, Dr. Sharon Evans Oster has excelled as a physician and the owner of the Oster Medical Group in Boise, Idaho, since 2006. Specializing in internal medicine and infectious disease, she previously served the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center between 1999 and 2006. Other vocational activities to her credit have included serving as an infectious disease consultant and chief of the infection control committee for Doctors Hospital, a hospitalist at the AIDS Clinic at the Martinez/Oakland VA Medical Center, and a co-chairperson for Tenet Hospital San Pablo. Additionally, she was an assistant professor of medicine at the University of California Davis for four years, having commenced her career at John Muir Hospital Walnut Creek, Sutter Solano Hospital Vallejo and Brookside/Tenet Hospital San Pablo.
Prior to commencing her career, Dr. Oster pursued a formal education at the University of Colorado, receiving a Bachelor of Science, with distinction. She subsequently received a Doctor of Medicine from the East Virginia Medical School in 1980 and completed an internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center in 1981. Thereafter, Dr. Oster completed residencies at East Virginia Medical School and the Martinez VA Medical Center in 1983. She concluded her medical training at the Martinez VA Medical Center, where she completed a fellowship in 1988. During her residency, she was bestowed with the Resident of the Year Award.
Outside of her primary career pursuits, Dr. Oster has authored or co-authored numerous articles in professional journals and has maintained professional membership with the American Board of Internal Medicine. In light of her exceptional undertakings, she was recognized with America’s Best in Medicine Award from the American Health Council in 2019 and a House Staff Achievement Award from the Martinez VA Medical Center.
Civically engaged, Dr. Oster is also an active flutist, having performed with the Canyon County Symphony Flute Orchestra and the Capital City Mulligan Band. Furthermore, she founded the Flock Walk for Cancer in 2021, has donated her time and funds to her local YMCA, and has conducted missionary trips to India. Looking toward the future, she intends to experience continued growth in her career.
