Lois M. McClurg, LCSW, LMSW, first worked in the real estate sector early in her career. Following several years of working in a real estate office management position, she decided to transition to a career in health care, drawing upon her own experiences with the medical industry. She received an associate degree in social work from Jackson Community College and a Bachelor of Science in social work from Spring Arbor University. Shortly thereafter, Ms. McClurg earned a Master of Science in clinical/medical social work from Michigan State University.
In 2003, Ms. McClurg began serving the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice in Jackson, Michigan, where she served as a clinical social worker until retiring in 2022. During her tenure, she specialized in grief counseling for patients and their families. Alongside counseling individuals, she also aided her patients in securing resources to help them advance further in life. Over the course of her longstanding career, she has been especially gratified by helping individuals in both a mental and physical health context. To this end, she is humbled by her experiences in assisting grieving families and those who have experienced trauma.
Alongside her vocational endeavors, Ms. McClurg has often volunteered with local hospice facilities in her community. In this vein, she is notable for establishing a monthly social work group, through which she spearheaded various meetings for professionals and community members and procured necessary resources for members of her community who were struggling. Leveraging her status as a licensed clinical social worker and a master social worker, Ms. McClurg intends to continue her work in a different sphere following her employment with the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice and possibly travel to other countries.
To remain abreast of developments in the field of health care, Ms. McClurg maintains affiliation with the National Association of Social Workers and is a past secretary of the Phi Theta Honor Society. Married to her late husband Ronald McClurg, Ms. McClurg has four children, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
