Davidson, Evelyne 4488280_23625248 NewsletterExposed to the field of medicine from a young age, Dr. Evelyne M. Davidson was inspired to become a physician by her parents, who were involved in the health care industry. After completing a residency in internal medicine in 1990, Dr. Davidson joined her father’s private practice in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she remained for four years. During this time, she was introduced to the complexities of medical work. She notes that although the work was difficult, it was also quite rewarding and she enjoyed spending time with her patients.

Subsequent to leaving her father’s practice, Dr. Davidson joined Baptist Primary Care System in 1994, where she was a physician for four years. From there, she served in the same capacity for Premier Medical Associates for 11 years between 1998 and 2009. Since 2009, she has practiced as an internist in Knoxville and, since 2011, has been the medical director of the Knoxville office of Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice. Since the inception of her role, she has proven herself a prestigious figure in the hospice industry, where she provides comprehensive palliative care for individuals with serious illnesses. Furthermore, she has served as a principal investigator of New Phase Research and Development since 2013.

To remain abreast of developments within the fields of internal medicine and hospice care, Dr. Davidson enjoys reading medical journals, acquiring new knowledge from her colleagues and attending medical education seminars. She notes that she has overcome significant struggle throughout her life as a minority in the health care field, which has inspired her to be a role model for African American females who wish to pursue a career in medicine.

Dr. Davidson attributes her success to her dedication to the field, her perseverance in the face of hardship and her passion for taking care of patients. A celebrated Marquis listee, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading and shopping in her spare time.
