A highly regarded figure in international affairs, Don De Marino served as deputy assistant secretary of the US Commerce Department for Africa, the Near East and South Asia. He also served as director of the US-Saudi Arabian Joint Economic Commission and was asked by the secretary of Defense to serve on his Personnel Evaluation Team for Iraq. Since 1991, he has served as chairman of the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce. He has advised a number of corporations on international opportunities, including the Tata Group and Huntsman Chemical; and was manager of Litton’s offset investment program for Saudi Arabia.
De Marino was selected into the US Senior Executive Service and received an outstanding performance rating. He also received a distinguished service award from the Saudi Government. He is a former lecturer at Wharton’s Advanced Management Program and served on the national advisory committee of the Middle East Policy Council.
He received a BA in 1967 from the University of Pennsylvania. He was formerly married to Caroline Mack and to Dr. Betsy Reiver. He is the father of four sons: Christopher, Alexander, William (deceased) and Benjamin (deceased). He is the son of Thomas C. and Sue Eleanor De Marino. His brother, Thomas J. De Marino, was also included in Marquis Who’s Who in America.
