A celebrated figure in the legal industry, Charles E. Carpenter, Sr. has accrued 40 years of professional experience with Carpenter Law, PLLC (successor of Charles E. Carpenter, A Professional Corporation), a firm he founded in 1978. Serving as principal of the firm, Mr. Carpenter specializes in public finance as sole bond counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriter’s counsel and issuer’s counsel. His services has been employed in complex financing structures such as airports, utilities, multifamily housing and 501(c)(3) financing. He has been listed in The Bond Buyer’s Municipal Marketplace since 1992 as the first minority-owned firm to achieve this honor in the state of Tennessee. Mr. Carpenter has recently been joined by his son, Corbin Ira Carpenter, who brings his own level of compassion and expertise to the firm.

In preparation for his lauded career, Mr. Carpenter sought out formal education, first obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University in 1974. He concluded his career with a Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame in 1977. Since then, he has been admitted to practice in the state of Tennessee and in the District of Columbia.

Attributing his success to a history of valuable training, having a strong work ethic, and remaining abreast of developments in the field of law, Mr. Carpenter also has extensive experience in minority and women business enterprise clients.
