With nearly 20 years of experience in the field of otolaryngology, Marc Dean, MD, FACS, is co-founder of This American Doc in San Jose, Calif., as well as a clinical assistant professor of otolaryngology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center since 2015. In addition to his primary roles, he has also been a professor of otolaryngology at DHSC in Duhok, Iraq, since 2014. Dr. Dean commenced his career by working with the Human Genome Project at Washington University in St. Louis from 2000 to 2001.
In preparation for his celebrated career, Dr. Dean first obtained a Bachelor of Science in bioinformatics at Baylor University in 2011, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2005. He went on to complete an internship in general surgery at LSU Health Shreveport from 2005 to 2006, a residency in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at LSU Health Shreveport from 2006 to 2010, and a fellowship in Otorhinolaryngology at LSU Health Shreveport from 2010 to 2011. He is a licensed otolaryngologist in the states of Texas and Louisiana.
In recognition of his exceptional achievements, Dr. Dean has been honored with several awards throughout the course of his impressive career. Named a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2016, he was considered
a Top Ten Medical Doctor in Dallas-Fort Worth in 2015, as well as a Rising Star by Texas Super Doctors in 2015
and from 2012 to 2013. In addition, he was named among America’s Top Physicians in 2014 and a Presidential
Scholar of Baylor University in 1997, among several other honors.
