A founding physician and clinical director of the Sullivan Breast Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., Colette M. Magnant, MD, boasts more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry. Her areas of expertise include breast imaging, breast surgery, breast reconstruction, radiation oncology, medical oncology and physical therapy, among other services. Since founding the Sullivan Breast Center in 1998, Dr. Magnant and her partner have treated more than 20,000 patients per year for breast imaging and surgery, as well as approximately 450 patients per year who require treatment for breast cancer.

To prepare for her rewarding career, Dr. Magnant first earned a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1977, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the School of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1981. Thereafter, she completed a residency in general surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Medical Center in 1986. Dr. Magnant has been certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1988.

Honored as a Regional Top Doctor by Castle Connolly, Dr. Magnant is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Alongside her career endeavors, she is also the chairman of the Sibley Cancer Committee at Sibley Memorial Hospital and a partner with The Judith A. Lese Breast Cancer Foundation, an organization which provides clinical trials for uninsured and underprivileged women. Looking toward the future, Dr. Magnant hopes to further develop a multidisciplinary women’s health center that accepts all insurance companies.
