With more than 45 years of experience under his belt, Peter O. Bodnar has established himself as a renowned matrimonial litigator in the state of New York. An expert in many aspects of family law, Mr. Bodnar is sought for his quality services, which he offers through his firm, BodnarMilone LLP. He has been practicing via the firm since 1999. Throughout the years, he has litigated many family law cases, including cases involving custody and visitation, equitable distribution, maintenance and child support. Prior to his current position, Mr. Bodnar served as the principal of the Law Offices of Peter O. Bodnar. He also formerly served as partner of Bender and Bodnar from 1980 to 1998, as well as partner of Bodnar & Greene from 1977 to 1980. Mr. Bodnar launched his career as Confidential Legal Secretary to Hon. Evans V. Brewster in Westchester County’s Family Court and County Court.
Born in Queens, N.Y., Mr. Bodnar received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from New York University in 1966 and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University in 1970. He was admitted to practice before the New York State Bar in 1971 and, in 1973, was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Bodnar expresses his passion for the law through a multitude of affiliations, including being a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers, and a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the Association of Collaborative Lawyers of Rockland-Westchester. He is a member of the Executive Committees of the Westchester County Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the New York State Bar Association’s Family Law Section, of which he is also Chair of the Finance Committee.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Bodnar has often been recognized for his hard work, dedication and contributions to the legal profession. Since 1995, Mr. Bodnar has been recognized annually by Best Lawyers in America. He has received the highest peer review rating, AV, from Martindale-Hubbell. In 2013, he was honored as Lawyer of the Year in Family Law. Notably, Mr. Bodnar has received recognition as a Who’s Who Lifetime Achiever in 2017.
