Dr. Barry R. Parker is a prolific author, renowned theoretical physicist and pronounced educator who accrued 35 years of experience in his field. A professor emeritus of physics and astronomy at Idaho State University (ISU) since 1998, he previously served the university as an assistant professor and full professor between 1967 and 1998. At the inception of his career in 1963, he served as an assistant professor of physics at Weber State University. During his tenure at ISU, Dr. Parker also taught a writing class at night for numerous years.

Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts in physics, with honors, and a Master of Science from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Dr. Parker earned a PhD from Utah State University in 1967. Interested in the sciences from a formative age, he has published more than 25 books since 1984. His books discuss a number of key scientific topics, including physics and astronomy, and he has since branched out into other areas of writing as his career progressed. Likewise, he has contributed his plethora of knowledge and expertise to the Smithsonian, Encyclopedia Britannica, Time Life and the Washington Post. His writing can further be found in such magazines as Astronomy, Sky and Telescope, Flyfisherman and Fishing World.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Parker was the recipient of a Writing Award from McDonald Observatory at the University of Texas at Austin. He was also highlighted in the 25th and 26th editions of Who’s Who in the West, published between 1995 and 1997. Married to his wife Gloria Parker since 1960, he is the proud father of one son, David. In his spare time, he enjoys playing piano, photography, skiing, hiking, traveling and fly fishing.
