Drawing upon more than three decades of practiced experience in biophysics and chemistry, Michel H. Koch, Ph.D., is a prominent figure in his areas of expertise. Inspired to enter the sciences by his parents, who were both involved in biochemistry and physiology, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from Université Catholique de Louvain in 1970. Thereafter, he attended to his first professional post as a consultant to Janssen Pharmaceutica from 1975 to 1976 before taking on a role as a group leader and research scientist with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, located in the heart of Hamburg, Germany. Employed with the laboratory from 1977 until his retirement in 2006, Dr. Koch was able to enhance his understanding of complex, scientific topics while posing his progressive research to other scholars in the field.

Even after his retirement, Dr. Koch continued to conduct research and contribute greatly to his field. In 2013, he co-authored “Small Angle X-Ray and Neutron Scattering from Solutions of Biological Macromolecules” through Oxford Press. In addition, he has published scientific articles through such journals as the Journal of Structural Biology, Biophysical Chemistry, the Journal of the American Chemical Society, and the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, among many others. To remain abreast of changes in his field, he maintains affiliation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society.

In light of his exceptional contributions to the biophysics industry, Dr. Koch has garnered multiple accolades. He was the recipient of the Louis Empain Prize from the University Foundation in Belgium. Likewise, he was highlighted in numerous Who’s Who publications between 2008 and 2013. Looking toward the future, Dr. Koch intends to further his research while also enjoying his retirement.
