Desiring to delve into either law or medicine from a formative age, Hon. Paul M. Glenn, JD, ultimately decided to become a lawyer after earning a Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University, where he graduated cum laude in 1967. Attending law school soon thereafter, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Duke University School of Law in 1970. He commenced his career with Mahoney, Hadlow & Adams, PA, where he served as an associate and shareholder for 11 years. Subsequently, he became the president and chief executive officer of Mobile Company of America from 1981 to 1985 and shareholder for Bledsoe, Schmidt & Glenn, PA, from 1985 to 1987. From 1987 to 1988,
he served as the executive vice president and chief administrative officer for the Dependable Insurance Group of America Inc., and from 1989 to 1993, he was a shareholder for Dale & Bald. Since 1993, Judge Glenn has been a federal bankruptcy judge for the Middle District of Florida.
A fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, Judge Glenn presided over numerous prominent cases, including the Celotex Corporation, the Amelia Island Plantation, and the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Spa. Citing the highlights of his career to be the many accolades he garnered over the course of his tenure, he is also proud of serving on the budget committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States for four years between 2013 and 2017. In addition, he was a guest lecturer at the University of Florida, Stetson University, and the Florida Coastal School of Law, having also conducted international seminars in Budapest and Toronto.
Judge Glenn attributes his success to his many mentors whom he admired and relied on throughout his life. A former speaker and panelist of legal education sessions through the American Bar Association, he also sat on multiple committees for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, was a liaison for the Federal Bar Association, and served as president of the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court in Jacksonville, FL. Maintaining affiliation with several honor societies, he is also a member of the Florida Bar, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the American College of Bankruptcy, and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, among many others.
