Overtly passionate about the theory of communications, probability and statistics, Dr. Sayandev Mukherjee decided that he would pursue a career in engineering, and thus went on to earn a Bachelor of Technology in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1991. Subsequently, he received both a master’s degree and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cornell University.
Shortly before graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Mukherjee landed a position with Bell Laboratories as a member of the technical staff, where he worked until 2006. His following assignment was as a senior staff engineer for Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. From 2008 to 2010, Dr. Mukherjee held the same position for SpiderCloud Wireless, Inc. Since 2010, he has served as a senior research engineer for DOCOMO Innovations, Inc., the Silicon Valley subsidiary of the Japanese telecommunications company DOCOMO,
specializing in mobile network technology, network service innovation, Android product innovation and open service innovation. Additionally, Dr. Mukherjee is an editorial board member of EURASIP’s Journal of Wireless Communications and Networking. He has served in this capacity since 2004. Throughout the years, Dr. Mukherjee has established himself as a renowned leader in the areas of machine learning and wireless communications.
A senior member of IEEE, Dr. Mukherjee has been recognized for his significant industry contributions. He holds patents for a distributed channel assignment method for the fixed wireless local loop, and for methods to mute a cell phone user in a conference call. Marquis Who’s Who has featured Dr. Mukherjee in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders. In the coming years, he hopes to maintain his standard of industry excellence by continuing to work in the area of machine learning models. By doing this, Dr. Mukherjee intends to continue to expand his industry knowledge and expertise.
