Drawing upon over five decades of professional experience, Richard D. Dinan is a seasoned farmer in Clayton County, Iowa. In the early stages of his life, he was encouraged by his father to enter the field of farming, supported by his own tenure as a farmer as well. Since 1964, Mr. Dinan has served as a farmer, having been semi-retired since 2016. During his time in the industry, he was invited to Washington, D.C., by the president of the United States to recognize the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act.
Outside of his primary efforts, Mr. Dinan has also lent his expertise to his local community. A candidate for Clayton County Supervisor in 2018, he also served as a member of the Iowa Coalition on Mental Health and Aging. A part of the organization’s early membership alongside his wife, Betty, Mr. Dinan was asked to speak on mental health issues and the stress of farmers, which offered great insight into the area. He is also an outspoken animal rights activist. Additionally, Mr. Dinan served as the president of Clayton County Substance Abuse Services and is a past board member of the Clayton County Farm Bureau. Demonstrating his expertise in bowling, as well, Mr. Dinan is a past president of his local chapter of the American League Bowling Association.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Dinan and Betty intend to continue cultivating the success of the Dinan farm. Mr. Dinan also would like to spend more time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and continue working toward better mental health services in Clayton County. Ultimately, Mr. Dinan would like to contribute more time to helping small businesses attain success in the coming years. He has resided in Elkader, Iowa, since birth.
