Dr. George O. Akinkuoye is a leading figure in the fields of medicine and psychotherapy. Since 2018, he has served as the president and chief executive officer of Medical Community Psychotherapy LLC, through which he specializes in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Alongside this appointment, he has also served as a partner of Collaborative Mental Health Services, Inc., since 2010, where he provides consulting services to various nursing homes in mental health care and treatment. At the inception of his career, he was an MDS coordinator for the Resident Care Rehab and Nursing Center between 1992 and 2006.

Before embarking on his career journey, Dr. Akinkuoye attended the University of Ife in Nigeria, receiving a Bachelor of Science in architecture. After immigrating to the United States, he matriculated at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, receiving a Bachelor of Science in construction management. Following his receipt of this degree, he served as a cost engineer with Holloway and Sons. However, following the 1993 recession, Dr. Akinkuoye pivoted his career path toward health care. He enrolled in Regis College, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in psychiatric mental health nursing practice, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in psychiatric mental health nursing practice. He also later obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in divinity from the Mental Physical Interfaith Church.

Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Akinkuoye is an active music composer, having created a myriad of musical compositions that reflect upon real-world events and his own experiences in his life and career. To remain abreast of developments in his field, he has maintained affiliation with such organizations as the Massachusetts Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the Sleep Research Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Mental Health Counselors Association and the Association of the Scientific Study of Consciousness. In his civic-minded pursuits, Dr. Akinkuoye is a member of Rotary International and volunteers with his local church.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Akinkuoye received the Emergency Medical Responder Preferred State Employee Award from the Glavin Regional Center in 2009. In the coming years, he intends to continue advancing his work in the field of mental health care, participate in research pertaining to psychiatry and sleep studies, and begin writing music for clinical use. He recently authored the 2022 work, “Exercise – A Master Healer: Exercising Your Mind, Body and Spirit Together: Excellent Key to a Super Human State of Higher Consciousness.”
