A consummate professional in the fields of social work and mental health for over 30 years, Peggy A. Lane has served as the owner of Alternative Paths Counseling LLC since 1992. Opening the practice alongside a fellow therapist at that time, Ms. Lane has been recognized as a pivotal figure in opening the behavioral health practice, which offers private, individual and family counseling. Since its inception, the practice has grown to include at least 10 therapists, and Ms. Lane is primarily responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the business.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Lane pursued a formal education, having been certified as a licensed clinical social worker for more than three decades. She first received an Associate of Science in mental health from Middlesex Community College, followed by collegiate coursework in human services and administration at New Hampshire College. From there, Ms. Lane received a Master of Social Work in mental health from Southern Connecticut University in 1992. During this time, she was immensely grateful to have trained with the faculty and psychiatric fellows at Yale University.
Ms. Lane is a member of the National Association of Social Workers. From an early age, she desired to enter the field of mental health care with a particular focus on human services and social work. Even as a child, she became an invaluable resource to her classmates, who often confided in her and asked for her advice and guidance. As a testament to her resounding success in the field, Ms. Lane was recognized with the Wallingford’s Best Counselor Award in 2021 and 2022.
In the forthcoming years, Ms. Lane intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career. Ultimately, she would like to expand her practice by hiring additional therapists and cultivating an environment of inclusion for the younger generations who wish to enter the same industry. She attributes a great deal of her success to her passion, drive to succeed, persistence and dedication to helping others.
