Intrigued by the field of medicine from a formative age, Dr. Jacob M. Fisher initially intended to become a physician. However, after desiring a personable approach to the health care industry, he decided to enter the field of nursing. Dr. Fisher attained an Associate of Applied Science in nursing from Trocaire College in 2014, followed by a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Master of Science in nursing education from Daemen College in 2015 and 2017, respectively. He recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in education, specializing in nursing education, from Capella University in 2022.

While studying toward his associate degree, Dr. Fisher commenced his career as a hospital aide at the Wyoming County Community Health System in 2012, remaining in the role until 2014, when he became a registered nurse. Departing from the health system in 2016, he simultaneously served as a professional nurse resource tutor at Trocaire College between 2015 and 2017. Since then, Dr. Fisher has remained with Trocaire College. He has served in prestigious roles such as practicum student, interim program director of the AAS Program, faculty mentor and laboratory instructor. Additionally, Dr. Fisher has served Trocaire College as an assistant professor in the department of nursing, preceptor and program director of the AAS Nursing Program. Since 2021, he has also been the assistant dean of nursing.

To supplement his career experience, Dr. Fisher has served on several committees at Trocaire College, including the nursing curriculum committee, nursing simulation committee and nursing clinical instructor search committee. Furthermore, he has been an advisor to Trocaire College Men in Nursing since 2018. Outside of his professional work at Trocaire College, Dr. Fisher is an instructor in CPR and first aid and a day camp director at the Wyoming County YMCA. Well-regarded for his scholarly output, he co-developed the “Trocare College Catherine McAuley School of Nursing Student Success Manual” and learning modules for fluid and electrolytes and endocrine health deviations.

A frequent grantee in the field, Dr. Fisher was named an Educator of Distinction by the Professional Nurses Association of Western New York and received scholarships to his alma maters. He is a member of the National and New York Leagues for Nursing in his spare time. In the coming years, he intends to enter educational consulting.
