Supported by more than 40 years of experience, Joseph C. Nettemeyer Jr. commenced his career in 1979 with Emerson Power Transmission, where he served as a district manager. Advancing to the role of regional manager by 1982, he subsequently became the vice president of sales and marketing for the Harris Calorific Division of Emerson Electric in 1986. From there, he remained with Emerson Electric, becoming the vice president of sales and marketing for the Chromalox Division in 1992. He remained in that position until 2001.
Since 2001, Mr. Nettemeyer has excelled as the chief executive officer of Valin Corporation, having also previously held the position of president. He also currently serves as Valin Corporation’s executive chairman. Notably, he led Valin Corporation to be a 100% employee-owned company by 2007, serving as a testament to his leadership prowess. As executive chairman, he maintains responsibility for executing Valin Corporation’s management succession plan, as well as working with their management team. Likewise, as chief executive officer, Mr. Nettemeyer participates in the vocational development of all employees at Valin Corporation.
Prior to the onset of his career, Mr. Nettemeyer received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with dual majors in accounting and marketing, from St. Louis University in 1973. Outside of his primary endeavors, he has been the chairman of the Institute for Distribution Excellence and of the National Association of Wholesale Distributors Executive Board. Furthermore, Mr. Nettemeyer has sat on the advisory board of the School of Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University, for which he and his wife donated funds to aid in the construction of the school’s new innovation center. Civically, he has served on the board of directors of Family Links, the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose and Partners in Sustainable Development.
Moreover, Mr. Nettemeyer and his wife have been the sponsors of 30 two-year schools in Bangladesh, in which they have focused their attention on educating children in underserved communities to eliminate illiteracy. Alongside this feat, he also sits on the fundraising committee for the McBride Legacy Scholarship Program, which supports the Chaminade Preparatory High School. To attest to his success, Mr. Nettemeyer was named Businessman of the Year by the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce in 2015.
