
Daniel Lam is recognized in the hospitality industry for his significant contributions to South Florida’s property scene, with over 25 years of professional experience. Since 2017, he has been the area general manager for Economos Properties, where he manages properties in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Sparks, Nevada. His routine duties include operational oversight, franchise management and asset development. Notably, his portfolio – valued at over $65 million in revenue – includes about 1,000 rooms and several hundred employees.
Mr. Lam began his career in the late 1990s, working as a part-time PBX operator and relief front desk clerk. He then advanced at various resort-branded hotels across Central and South Florida while simultaneously studying for an undergraduate degree in business management at Florida International University. In 2005, he joined Economos Properties as a front desk manager at the Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach Oceanfront, and he was quickly promoted to front office manager, director of operations and general manager within the ownership group, overseeing numerous renovations, revenue growth, and operational improvements.
In 2017, Mr. Lam was promoted to his current role as an area general manager, where he was initially responsible for overseeing properties such as the Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites. The following year, he managed the conversion of a 220-room Holiday Inn into a Best Western Plus in Sparks, Nevada. From 2019 to 2021, he supervised the design, construction and opening of the 350-room dual-branded Marriott and AC Hotel in Dania Pointe, Florida.
Outside of his professional duties, Mr. Lam has dedicated himself to significant community involvement, working with organizations such as the Dan Marino Foundation and Gang Alternative Inc. Additionally, he has volunteered with Feeding South Florida, the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, and Habitat for Humanity of Broward County.
In accounting for his success, Mr. Lam credits the support of his family, team and company owners who entrusted him with leadership responsibilities throughout his career. Looking ahead, he plans to achieve sustainable growth and continue mentoring emerging leaders in the hospitality industry.
