With more than 10 years of professional experience, Shayan Rizvi is a rising leader in the engineering industry. Since 2020, he has thrived as the senior reliability assessment and performance analysis (RAPA) engineer at the Northeast Power Coordinating Council Inc., a variety of working groups and task forces that collaborate effectively with the electricity sector. As part of his routine responsibilities, Mr. Rizvi maintains electric power reliability for the Northeast United States and Northeastern Canada, develops models that accurately represent the power system, engages with stakeholders to ensure the effective management and precision of these models, and enhances the overall understanding and efficiency of power systems.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Rizvi served as a technical advisory consultant with 1898 & Co. from 2019 to 2020, a transmission planning engineer and project manager at Burns & McDonnell from 2014 to 2020, and an electrical engineer at iDevices from 2013 to 2014. While tending to his undergraduate studies, he also served as an associate researcher at the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Connecticut between 2013 and 2014. He commenced his career in 2012 as a process engineer intern with TTM Technologies, where he remained for one year.

Highly educated, Mr. Rizvi holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Science in power systems engineering and management from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He also completed courses through Duke University and Coursera and holds a certificate in data science through Columbia Engineering.

Among the many highlights of his career, Mr. Rizvi is particularly proud of earning his master’s degree while balancing full-time job responsibilities, which he considers a strong personal achievement. In addition, he takes great pride in his contributions to the Northeast Power Coordinating Council, which have enhanced his professional development. Looking toward the future, Mr. Rizvi aims to deepen his expertise in energy infrastructure with an emphasis on power grid reliability. In this regard, he recognizes that prioritizing this area is essential for novel advancements in the future. As such, he aspires to progress efficiently in his career by engaging in meaningful projects that will enhance the resilience and performance of energy systems.
