Supported by more than five decades of professional experience, Dr. Steven M. Dranoff is well-regarded in psychology and psychoanalysis. Since 1996, he has served as the president of D&D Consultants, a leading consultancy that leverages novel research in scientific psychology and organizational development to create programs and interventions that assist individuals and groups in navigating and resolving professional and personal challenges. Comprised of several psychologists, educators and developers, D&D Consultants aims to develop interactive programs that support risk reduction. Notably, Dr. Dranoff utilizes his expertise in psychoanalysis, organizational dynamics and communication to continuously improve his consulting methods.

Concurrently, Dr. Dranoff has thrived as a co-founder and director of the Center for Empathy Research and Training at Fairleigh Dickinson University since 2023, providing assessment and training in empathy to such clients as hospitals, organizations, corporations, public school districts, colleges and religious groups, among other entities. Lending his expertise to Rutgers, the University of New Jersey, Dr. Dranoff has been a field supervisor for the university’s doctoral program in clinical psychology for 20 years. In addition, he has been in private practice since 1981, providing psychological treatment to adolescents, adults and couples.

Previously, Dr. Dranoff worked extensively with numerous regional mental health centers in executive-level and leadership roles, having served as a director of the Community Mental Health Center in Clifton, New Jersey, and the Counseling Center and Psychological Services at William Paterson University. Moreover, Dr. Dranoff was a field supervisor at the psychological clinic at Rutgers University and a co-founder of the Psychoanalytic Institute for the Contemporary Center for Advanced Psychoanalytic Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Among several other appointments, Dr. Dranoff also served as co-chair of the anti-bullying committee of the New Jersey Psychological Association.

Impressively, Dr. Dranoff has been recognized as a public speaker through many media outlets and has collaborated with several pivotal industry leaders to promote the advancement of psychoanalytic studies. To wit, he spearheaded the “Risky Business Development Series,” a web-based program that endeavors to reduce bullying, harassment and violence in school systems nationwide. He also co-authored “The First Line of Defense” and “The Manager’s Guide to Preventing a Hostile Work Environment,” contributing to his breadth of knowledge of the industry. In this regard, Dr. Dranoff is particularly proud of the impact his written works have made upon his profession.

In the coming years, Dr. Dranoff aims to continue refining his innovative assessment methodologies to address and promote empathy in others. His ultimate goal is to address widespread, global issues that may stem from such concepts as anger, conflict and aggression. He attributes much of his success to the support and encouragement of his family, including his wife, Geralyn, and two sons, Kevin and Erik.
