Leveraging more than 40 years of industry experience, Derek Edmondson is well-versed in the field of telecommunications engineering, with a particular focus on RF engineering, propagation, interference mitigation and GNSS resilience. Since 2011, he has thrived with Meteorcomm, LLC as a systems engineer and principal II, where he maintains responsibility for several key items. To wit, he supports positive train control, a safety system mandated by the government following a 2008 incident in California as part of the Rail Safety Improvement Act. As such, his primary responsibilities include addressing environmental issues that hinder the proper functioning of their products, which requires Mr. Edmondson to frequently venture into the field to investigate and resolve complex interference problems. Notably, he has dedicated many years to traveling across Europe, South Korea, Canada and Japan for work and to witness the latest technological advancements.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Edmondson served in numerous pivotal roles in the telecommunications sector beginning in 1981. Employed as an operator and technician for Langston Broadcasting Corporation for two years, he subsequently served as an assistant engineer for Totem Broadcasting Inc., a chief engineer for Olympic Broadcasting Services, and an engineer for South Central Radio Inc. As time progressed, Mr. Edmondson also served as a telecommunications engineering consultant. He later went on to excel as a senior cellular engineer at MacTel Inc. and Alaska Communications, a systems engineer at New Horizons Telecom Inc., and a senior systems engineer at Qualcomm Technologies Inc.

Likewise, Mr. Edmondson served as a consultant and the director of engineering at All Com Inc. and later worked as a consultant and director of network operations at All Com LLC and Nextel Alaska. Moreover, he served as a regional test manager and senior staff engineer at TruePosition, an E-911 systems engineer and RF engineer V at AT&T Mobility, and a principal technologist at WFINT. Prior to assuming his present role, Mr. Edmondson served as the principal technologist and technical director for ManTech International Corporation.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Edmondson earned the Significant Contributor Award from Globalstar International Telecommunications, underscoring his commitment to telecommunications engineering. Outside of his primary endeavors, he has mentored college students and members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has likewise volunteered with liaison staff and law enforcement within his expertise. Looking toward the future, Mr. Edmondson aims to establish a consulting office in the Netherlands to expand the scope of his work.
