Drawing upon more than 24 years of professional experience, Srinivas Savitala is well-versed in computer science and technology. Since 2021, he has served as the head of engineering and science at Amazon, based in Seattle. In his position, he maintains responsibility for overseeing a team of engineering managers, data scientists and various tech teams to deliver mission-critical programs for Amazon’s selling partners. Prior to assuming this role, he served with Amazon as a senior software development manager from 2015 to 2021, where he led software development initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Savitala served with Microsoft as a principal and software engineering manager between 2004 and 2015. There, he made a resounding impact on Microsoft’s software development initiatives and demonstrated his leadership prowess by receiving more than 10 Team Awards. Before serving with Microsoft, Mr. Savitala was a lead software engineer at Cognizant in India from 2003 to 2004. He commenced his career in 2000 as a software engineer at Infosys Limited in India, remaining there until 2003.
Highly educated, Mr. Savitala holds a Bachelor of Science in electronics from Loyola Academy UG and PG College, which he earned in 1996. He went on to obtain a Master of Science in computer science from Osmania University in 1999. To expand upon his breadth of knowledge, he also completed the chief technology officer program at Wharton Executive Education via The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and previously graduated from Machine Learning University via Amazon Web Service.
In accounting for his success, Mr. Savitala credits the mentorship and tutelage of terrific leaders throughout his career and the support and encouragement from his family. As a testament to his success, he was named among the Most Admired Global Indians by PassionVista in 2024. Additionally, he earned the International Achievers Award from Indian Achievers Forums in 2024.
Adjacent to his primary efforts, Mr. Savitala has volunteered at local schools, having served as a robotics coach for the Lake Washington School District for three years and a coach for the Science Olympiad for another three years. Married with two children, he enjoys watching and playing cricket, watching movies and tutoring students in his leisure time.
