Supported by more than 20 years of professional excellence, Carman Bailey is a pronounced figure in the fields of health and safety in the construction industry. Since 2014, he has served as the owner of a consulting firm, Carthaginian Consulting Co., through which he ensures that his clients’ job sites are safe, impeccably clean and supervised. Carthaginian Consulting Co. is a small, yet dedicated company that is renowned for its meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Previously, Mr. Bailey worked in various other safety positions beginning in 2007, serving as a safety manager with United Forming Inc. Remaining with the company for two years, he subsequently served as a safety consultant at RMP between 2009 and 2011. Thereafter, he was an EHS superintendent at Skanska, serving in this capacity between 2011 and 2016. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bailey was involved in the fields of journalism and communications, through which he produced local television shows and hosted his own radio show for two seasons.

To prepare for his career, Mr. Bailey pursued a formal education at Union Commonwealth University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2001. After spending many years in the journalism industry, he returned to higher education to earn credentials in health, safety and the environment. Earning a certification in construction safety and health and an additional certification in program management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2009 and 2015, respectively, he is also a Certified Safety Professional®, a Construction Health and Safety Technician®, and a Certified Instructional Trainer®. Among the many achievements in his career, Mr. Bailey is particularly proud of receiving his Certified Safety Professional designation, the highest safety certification in the field.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Bailey endeavors to establish a reliable, innovative program to train and equip high school graduates and college students to secure positions in the field. In addition, he would like to leverage the skills of medical professionals to launch a new line of safety services. He attributes much of his success to his mentor, Mike Johnson, an OSHA trainer whose guidance and support during difficult times proved invaluable to Mr. Bailey’s career journey.
