Amassing more than 40 years of professional excellence, Hugh Lucas Sawyer serves as the chief executive officer and founder of SawyerOne Performance. Establishing his company in 2009, Mr. Sawyer leverages his experience in taxation and financial services to propose fractional chief financial officer (CFO) work to privately held companies in a myriad of industries, including in the fields of construction, architecture and engineering. He also offers executive coaching to businesses across a vast array of industries, primarily focused on business professionals. As a well-regarded company in Sarasota, Florida, and servicing its surrounding regions, SawyerOne Performance provides consultative services and financial education workshops to individuals seeking job placement.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Sawyer thrived with AXA Financial Services in several capacities, joining the esteemed firm in 2000 as its vice president. Remaining in this position until 2006, he subsequently served as the executive vice president for Kentucky operations from 2006 to 2008. During his tenure, he launched and directed operations of the firm’s flagship Financial Planning Center, as well as implemented the center’s policies in human resources, workflow management and administration. Likewise, Mr. Sawyer was a tax executive at Ernst & Young between 1978 and 1985, where he directed tax and corporate operations and managed the office personnel of taxation, auditing and consulting professionals.

To prepare for his career, Mr. Sawyer pursued a formal education at Roanoke College, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 1974. After accruing many years in his field, he received a Master of Science in financial planning from the College for Financial Planning in Denver in 2003. Mr. Sawyer is also recognized as a certified financial planner, a certified public accountant and a certified global management accountant. As a testament to his success, he was honored as the Financial Advisor of the Year by Investment Advisor Magazine in 2004.

Although he has achieved several significant milestones during his career, Mr. Sawyer is particularly proud of building trust in all colleagues whom he has overseen and in all his clients over the course of four decades. To wit, he notes that he feels humbled by the longstanding support of his clients, who have often been loyal to his services for many decades despite institutional changes. Looking toward the future, Mr. Sawyer aims to continue working in financial services and eventually pass down his legacy to his business partner, who will continue his work for decades to come.
