Drawing upon several decades of professional experience, Dr. Althea Green is a leader in the fields of business administration and military service. Since 2023, she has excelled as the owner of LE&ED Consultants, LLC. Previously, she was the director of recruitment for the United States Department of Defense’s F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine from 2012 until retiring from federal service in 2022. Likewise, Dr. Green allocated much of her time to the United States Army as a soldier, trainer, educator and mentor, having also served as the senior enlisted advisor to the Army Surgeon General. During her time in the armed forces, Dr. Green also served on the executive leadership team at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center/North Atlantic Regional Medical Command, the United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, Fort Detrick and the Eisenhower Army Medical Center/Southeast Regional Medical Command.
Among the myriad of highlights in her career, Dr. Green is particularly proud of her responsibility of restructuring the enlisted medical force in the United States Army, through which she helped create new specialties and opportunities for medics to be promoted. She also helped the Walter Reed Army Medical Center improve its system of care for wounded Army soldiers during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. This grew into the Army-wide Warrior-in-Transition system, which endures today. Furthermore, Dr. Green helped design the Department of Defense’s premedical post-baccalaureate program for enlisted service members, where she also served as the inaugural director.
To prepare for her career, Dr. Green pursued formal education at the University of Maryland Global Campus, receiving a Bachelor of Science in management. She went on to complete the sergeants major course – the capstone of the Army’s senior enlisted professional education system – at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, then earned a Master of Science in business and organizational management from the University of La Verne. Subsequently, she received a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership from Keiser University.
Adjacent to her primary career endeavors, Dr. Green maintains membership with the Society for Human Resource Management, the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education, Women in Defense, AMSUS-The Society of Federal Health Professionals, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Association of the United States Army, among other organizations. Honored with numerous accolades over the course of her career, she intends to witness the continued success of her consulting company in the coming years.
