Drawing upon over 40 years of professional experience, Ginger Quinn is recognized as an expert in the fields of roadway safety and transportation. Since 2022, she has excelled as a road design standard engineer for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), having previously held positions such as work zone traffic control coordinator, assistant state work zone safety coordinator and road design engineer. In her many roles with VDOT, Ms. Quinn has gained valuable experience in several areas, such as developing safety improvement projects and producing training materials. To this end, she is proud to have participated in the production of the Flagger Training Video by the American Traffic Safety Service Association.
Alongside her primary efforts, Ms. Quinn has also worked alongside researchers at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute and the Virginia Transportation Research Council to design and implement work zone safety products. She initially entered her field after her high school graduation, where she served as a flagger, sign fabricator and highway maintenance worker on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Additionally, Ms. Quinn is a member of the Virginia chapter of the American Traffic Safety Service Association, having served on several subcommittees.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Quinn pursued formal education and received an Associate of Applied Science in information technology from Virginia College in 1994. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in business administration from National College in 2005. Furthermore, Ms. Quinn is certified as a traffic control supervisor through the American Traffic Safety Service Association, which bestowed upon her the 2021 National Safety Award. Notably, this accolade recognizes an employee or recent retiree of a government agency for making a significant contribution to the nation’s roadways. She was a team member who previously earned the 1994 Commission Award of Excellence from VDOT.
Outside of her daily responsibilities, Ms. Quinn teaches swim lessons and fitness courses, as well as serves as an Atma Buti® Sound Healer Practitioner. Affiliated with the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia and Straight Street, she also is an active member of her local church.
