Supported by over 50 years of professional experience in academia, theology and finance, Dr. John S. Lown has excelled as the owner of the eponymous Lown Retirement Planning and a wealth preservation consultant with Table Bay Financial, serving the latter company since 2016. Also recognized as a university professor for a myriad of academic institutions, he has taught at National University in San Diego, Trevecca Nazarene University, Point Loma Nazarene University and Olivat University. Additionally, Dr. Lown was a teacher of Latin and ethics and the head coach of track and field and cross-country at the Francis Parker School.

To prepare for his career, Dr. Lown pursued a formal education at Cambridge University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in theology. He subsequently attended Vanderbilt University and earned a Doctor of Philosophy. Dr. Lown concluded his education at the University of Montana, where he completed postdoctoral studies in linguistics and academic publishing. Over the course of his career, he has been a production member of the books “Sayings of Jesus” and “Acts of the Apostles” and has also contributed his writing to periodicals and Forum Magazine.

Equally dedicated to civic service, Dr. Lown has participated with the Richardson Community Chorale and has been an organist and pianist with Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church since 2021. Likewise, he has been a volunteer instructor for the Society for Financial Awareness, a volunteer at the San Diego Greyhound Adoption Center, a volunteer director of music for various church music programs and a board chairman at the YMCA. Furthermore, Dr. Lown was recognized as a Danforth Associate Fellow for six years.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Lown was named among the Top 10 Producers by Table Bay Financial between 2018 and 2020. The recipient of an accolade from the YMCA, he was also named Teacher of the Year by Point Loma Nazarene University in 1978 and 1979, as well as by Trevecca Nazarene University in 1969. Looking forward, Dr. Lown intends to continue his work as a consultant and entrepreneur, as well as continue serving his community in volunteering capacities.
